One purchase, three Macs. No account. Apple silicon, macOS 26 or later.

## Four engines, all on your Mac

- **Apple**: ships with macOS, no download
- **Parakeet**: sharpest on English
- **Whisper**: 99 languages
- **SenseVoice**: works out which language you speak

Version 1.3.0, released 14 October 2026.

## How it works: hold, talk, let go

No window to open and nothing to paste. QuillKey sits in the menu bar and types for you, wherever the cursor is.

1. **Hold a key.** fn by default, or any key you like. Long dictation? Switch to toggle, with a cap so a forgotten microphone stops itself.
2. **Say it.** A small pill floats over whatever you're doing and shows the words as you speak. Release, and it's gone.
3. **It's typed.** The text goes in exactly where your cursor is. Mail, Slack, your editor, a form in Safari.

## Anywhere you can type, you can talk

- Replying to email, hands on coffee
- Commit messages in your editor
- Quick replies in Slack or Messages
- Long notes in toggle mode

## Your voice never leaves your Mac

Transcription runs on the Mac in front of you. There's no account and nothing to log into, and no recording or transcript is ever sent anywhere.

- **No account.** Nothing to sign up for, ever.
- **Works offline.** Dictation needs no network at all.
- **No telemetry.** The app doesn't phone home.
- **Cloud is opt in.** Cleanup through Claude or GPT uses your own key, sends text never audio, and is off until you turn it on.

## Your words, spelled your way

Generic dictation mangles names, products and jargon. QuillKey hands your terms to the engine before it listens, then runs a correction pass on the way out to catch what the engine still missed. "Scratch that" deletes the last thing you said instead of typing it.

## A small app, thought through

Every feature is in the one purchase. There are no tiers.

- **Stats**: every dictation is measured against typing the same words at 40 words a minute.
- **Scratchpad**: its own key opens a small pad over any app; notes keep until you delete them.
- **Cleanup modes**: locally with Apple Intelligence, or through Claude or GPT with your own key.
- **Per-app profiles**, including a local-only profile.
- **Searchable history**, kept on your Mac.
- **Passwords left alone**: QuillKey won't type into a focused password field.
- **Copy only**, and Copy Last Dictation in the menu bar.

## Pricing: A$39, yours to keep

One payment, not per month and not per year. Every feature, every engine and model, all updates through version 1, three Macs, and a 14 day trial first with everything on. If a version 2 ever ships it will be a paid upgrade, and your version 1 keeps working either way.

## Questions

**Can I try it before buying?** Yes. Every download starts a fourteen day trial with every feature switched on, no card and no account. When it ends, the app asks for a key and leaves your data alone.

**Does it really work offline?** Yes. Transcription runs on your Mac with no network at all. The only features that touch the internet are the optional cloud cleanup modes, and those only run when you enable them with your own API key.

**Why one purchase instead of a subscription?** Transcription runs locally on your Mac. Buy QuillKey once and keep it, with all updates through version 1 included. If version 2 ships, it will be a paid upgrade.

**What about Windows?** Mac only for now. QuillKey is built on macOS speech and accessibility frameworks, so a Windows version would be a new app, not a port. We may look at it later.

**Which Macs does it run on?** Apple silicon Macs on macOS 26 or later. The local models are built for the Neural Engine, which is where the speed comes from.

**What data do you collect?** None. There is no account, no analytics, and no telemetry. Your dictation history lives in a local database on your Mac and nowhere else.
